What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Saint Louis Center?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs ongoing and preventive maintenance as prioritized on regular work assignments. Assignments may include, but not limited to temperature control systems, plumbing and water systems, electrical fixtures, vehicle maintenance, fire suppression systems, pest control, painting and minor construction projects.
- Respond to daily work and repair requests in a timely manner.
- Assemble, repair and relocate furniture for residents, staff and for special events.
- Perform ongoing grounds maintenance, including, but not limited to, landscaping, lawn care and snow removal as needed.
- Communicate with other staff, vendors and volunteers as required to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Keep records of maintenance performed and required.
- Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of mechanical systems such as boilers, generators, and grounds maintenance equipment
- Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and use machinery and tools.
- Ability to assess and respond to emergency maintenance needs of a campus environment.
- Ability to maintain composure in a stressful environment.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Education and Experience: This position requires the equivalent of a High School Diploma/GED, and a valid driver’s license. Experience in maintaining power, heating and air conditioning in a commercial building is preferred. Education in HVAC systems.
