Job Description
The screener is the initial, positive contact point for patient and customer encounters. Duties include basic office procedures, telephone and face-to-face customer communications, and other clerical duties to support the patient care areas. The screener will be at specified entrances within the hospital. This position conducts brief patient interviews obtaining information around specific symptoms and exposure, obtains temperature and provides a mask at entry to hospital. This position is responsible for granting/limiting access based on the current visitor and screening policy. This individual works closely with clinical staff, admitting staff and security. The screener is responsible for maintaining adequate levels of supplies, punctual set up and tear down of screening stations, proper sanitizing procedures as well as overall knowledge of facility layout. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential as well as empathy for people in crisis. Must have strong critical thinking skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks at once, prioritize work and manage interruptions easily, adapt to frequently changing policies and be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift. The screener is responsible for the delivery of quality performance and service excellence.
