Your Role With Us:
The Supervisor of Environmental Services plays a vital role as part of the team at West Valley Hospital. The EVS Supervisor's working knowledge of EVS routines and procedures will assist in the training and direction of EVS Leads & Assistants to ensure the timely, complete, and efficient cleaning of all areas in the hospital.
Core Functions:
- Assigns personnel to established work areas or project duties; Plans and coordinates project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained.
- Ensures that proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all chemicals; Assigns equipment to staff; Monitor daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance.
- Conducts a minimum of three rounds daily through area of responsibility noting deficiencies and providing training and or corrective action where indicated.
- Attends and participate in departmental staff meetings on a scheduled basis; Attends ongoing staff development and training courses as offered by facility.
- Schedules days off, holidays, and vacations, ensuring that the facility’s needs are met in accordance with hours and position control.
- Ensures duty lists are revised and current at all times. Review duty lists with regular and relief employees periodically.
- Participates in staff selection process. Interviews candidates as needed; Ensures that staff receives proper orientation, initial training, ongoing education and recognition when appropriate.
- Provides and monitors individual guidance and motivation to employees to enable each one to perform to fullest potential.
- Participates in employee performance evaluations and make recommendations as needed.

Background/Expertise:
- High School Diploma or GED required; College degree is preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years as a supervisor or lead in housekeeping or service-related field or equivalent experience with high customer/client contact required.
- Courses in hospital housekeeping or institutional management desired.
- Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have strong interpersonal and human relations skills; must be skilled in counseling employees, and follow up with the appropriate forms of progressive discipline and conduct follow-up investigation as needed, reporting findings to appropriate assistant manager.
- Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff; Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions.
- Understanding of budgeting processes and awareness of man hour budgets.
- Must be knowledgeable in selecting, training, orienting, assigning, and scheduling personnel.
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills strongly preferred.
