  • Salisbury Academy is seeking candidates for the job of Media Specialist for the 2024-

2025 school year. 


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3-5 years of experience working in a school or with 

students. 


Summary of Position Objective

  • The media specialist, first and foremost, loves children and has daily responsibility for the 

social, emotional, and educational well-being of children. This position will provide 

library instruction, oversee library organization, the annual book fairs, and be the point 

person for the Elementary Battle of the Books and Battle of the Books teams. A Salisbury 

Academy teacher strives to maintain a child-centered classroom at all times and is 

willing to do what is necessary to positively impact the life of each child in his or her

Duties/Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate engaging learning experience that develop multiple 

literacies (information, media, visual, digital, and technological) and encourage 

lifelong learning

• Select books to support classroom curriculum needs and developmental needs

of readers

• Previous experience using Follet Destiny

• Provide library instruction to Lower School students as a regularly scheduled 

enhancement class.

• Collaborate with teachers to enhance in-class instruction by providing related 

library resources and topics

• Provide library resources for Middle School students to include genre studies, 

book talks, plagiarism prevention, etc.

• Actively promote a love of reading

• Oversee the Elementary and Middle School Battle of the Books program

• Assist students and faculty in locating reading and/or research materials

• Assist in all typical library activities including, but not limited to, collection 

evaluations, weeding, cataloging, processing, inventorying, and creating and 

maintaining displays

• Organize seasonal Book Fairs

• Participate in committee work, faculty meetings, and other duties as scheduled

• Maintain a positive attitude and conduct oneself professionally with respect to 

students, faculty, parents, and the community

• Exhibit strong classroom management

• Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
