Position Summary/Objective of job: 

The Baker 1 is an entry level position on the Bake team. This position is vital for the setup of production between the Bake and Spin team. Under the direction of the Baker 3 and/or the Bake Supervisor, the Baker 1 helps prepare ingredients, cut, store and organize finished products to optimize production for the Spin team.  

 

 Essential Functions:  

  • Daily, assess equipment and product to be used. 

  • Daily, prepare product to be inclusions for spinning. 

  • Prepare inclusions for spinning with either a semi-automated cutter, by hand cutting, or breaking product up by hand.  

  • Produce according to the daily production schedule and follow recipe instructions to meet quality standards.  

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure quality and consistent product is produced, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 

  • Troubleshoot any issues, such as outages of ingredients, supplies and inconsistencies with product and escalate to Baker 3 as needed. 

  • Perform math skills on a daily basis, understanding weights and division. 

  • After each project, store and organize sub-assemblies. 

  • Fill out and complete daily ingredient tracking sheets and work orders.  

  • Manually clean machines or equipment. 

  • Helps complete the end of day checklist. 

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Help in other departments when needed.   

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in food preparation or production preferred. 

 

Knowledge and Critical Skills: 

  • Fluency in English: speaking, reading, and writing. 

  • Spanish speaking as a second language is preferred. 

  • Comfortable working on a team in a manufacturing facility with other teams. 

  • Clear and concise communication skills.  

  • Able to work in a fast-paced production environment. 

  • Ensure a high standard of service, efficiency, sanitation, and safety. 

  • Good basic math skills. 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Standing 75% of the time. 

  • Walking 25% of the time. 

  • Occasional to frequent bending, pushing, pulling. 

  • Frequent lifting of less than 25 lbs. 

  • Frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs.  

  • Frequent repetitive motion. 

 

Work Environment:

  • Work is done primarily in the bake-side kitchen. 

  • Occasional to frequent in/out of kitchen coolers and freezers.  

  • Good light and ventilation.  

  • Noise level is high and tolerable. 

  • Room temperature should be comfortable.  

  • Ample space to move through and around the production area without obstruction. 

  • Room is occasionally wet when cleaning.  

  • Occasionally strong scents & odors depending on ingredients and cleaning.
