Position Overview: As an HR Manager at Salt & Straw, you will be a critical strategic partner for leadership and a valuable resource for our team members. You will help guide people programs for the company and drive the integrated delivery of HR support across our shops. The HR Manager will play a critical role in developing and establishing a robust HR foundation that supports a high-performance and healthy work environment.

Position Summary:

As the Human Resources (HR) Manager, you play a critical role in taking care of our team and creating a strong community inside and outside of our Scoop Shops, Kitchens, and Support Centers.Successful leaders at Salt & Straw lead with kindness and are thoughtful, resourceful, collaborative, and scrappy in their approach to work. Our HR Manager will bring Salt & Straw values to life for our team and our customers. The Salt & Straw HR Manager will directly impact the Team Member engagement for “Salties” at all levels, as an advocate for each Team Member.
Essential Functions:

Manage and ensure company HR compliance in practices, policies, and procedures by staying up-to-date with state/federal employment laws and regulations; appropriately identifying and escalating employment risk issues.

Own maintenance and distribution of HR policy and Team Member Handbook (including state addendums).

Partner with internal customers on matters of employee relations with a focus on manager-level Team Members, frontline Team Members, and everything in between.

Conduct investigations as needed and provide recommendations to Leadership and CPO.

Oversees team member disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations for the front line to manager-level Team Members.

Work closely with and advising to the Chief People Officer on employment-related legal matters.

Conduct investigations as needed providing support and guidance to management, and other Team Members when complex, specialized, andsensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

Provide support to and collaborate with HR functional leaders as needed.

HR point of contact/business partner for Shops and CKOR (Central Kitchen Oregon).

Oversee and triage inbound reports and requests from the Team Member hotline and email inbox.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Leverage data and analytics to help drive insights and performance metrics. Report out to leadership on HR KPI data.

Contribute to a strategic plan to build and manage the annual HR strategy and budget.

Drive people engagement strategies that foster an environment where all team members are seen and heard.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Confidentially support and assist the CPO with critical matters.

Qualifications:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following capabilities:

Minimum of 3 years of HR generalist experience in high-volume, multi-unit leadership and professional-level positions.

Minimum of 2 years experience in managing at lower-level HR professionals (generalist, specialist, coordinator, etc.)

3 years of office experience, experience in retail or quick service.
-
Hands-on experience with HRIS or HRMS systems.
-
Strong computer skills, with either MS Office or G-Suite, particularly with Excel or Google Sheets.
-
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
-
Ability to handle high-volume email and phone communication.

Ability to be flexible in working non-standard hours, including weekends and evenings.
