Salus University is seeking qualified applicants for a Faculty position in our Physician Assistant Program. Rank/Track will be based on candidates' applicable experience. The program resides in the College of Health Sciences, Education and Rehabilitation (CHER) that also includes programs in occupational therapy, physician assistant, blindness and low vision, post-baccalaureate, biomedicine, and speech-language pathology.
This individual will be reporting to the Physician Assistant Program Director and in conjunction with principal and instructional faculty, this position will provide the effective development, implementation and assessment of the curriculum in accordance with the University and Program missions and goals in compliance with ARC-PA standards.
What You Will Bring to Salus:
As a faculty member in the Physician Assistant Program, you will be responsible to develop, review and revise the Program's mission statement and goals. You will also participate in the interview process and the selection of candidates for admission. In addition to providing student instruction, you will also be responsible to monitor and evaluate student performance and identify students at risk and make appropriate, timely referral to supportive services. This individual will design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate curriculum as well as recruit, orient and schedule appropriate internal and external lecturers to deliver course material. In addition, you will be responsible to orient students and instructional faculty to the curriculum, expected outcomes and policies and procedures, as well as develop, administer, grade and validate student assessments. As a faculty member, you will assist in the recruitment of Program faculty and staff as needed and participate in committee meetings at the programmatic and University level. In addition, you will be responsible to mentor and provide academic counseling to students. In this position, you will be responsible to design, monitor and assess remedial instruction when indicated as well as support program efforts in the procurement and maintenance of clinical sites. As a faculty member, you will be responsible to attend conferences and designated programs pertinent to physician assistant education and clinical practice as well as utilize release time to pursue clinical practice, professional development, service and scholarly activities. Finally, you will be responsible to actively contribute to the Program's ongoing assessment process and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited physician assistant program; Doctoral degree or willingness to pursue a doctoral degree preferred
  • Current NCCPA certification and licensure
  • Minimum of two years of clinical practice is required
  • Minimum of one year classroom or clinical teaching experience in PA education or other health- related field preferred
  • Developed organizational and leadership skills
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment
