What are the responsibilities and job description for the Immigration position at Salva?
SALVA Mission:
SALVA is a nonprofit dedicated to serving the Latino/a/x and undocumented community in the Antelope Valley. Salva possesses a holistic mission, centered on fomenting education, championing the rights of our migrant community, and sharing the richness of our Latin American culture.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage client caseload, ensure that cases are completed and filed in a timely manner.
- Have extensive knowledge in handling U-visa, Naturalization, Residency Renewal, DACA Renewals, Work Permit Renewals, TPS, etcs.
- Translate documents as needed for cases
- Maintain record of cases with confidentiality between agency and clients.
- Communicate with clients to ensure they understrand immigraiton processes and procedures.
- Be comfortable to participate TPS, DACA and immigration reform spaces, to provide overview of SALVA services.
- Remain updated on changing immigration policies, be able to communicate policies changes to clients in a clear and concisive manner.
- Create workshops and educational material for public events both in person and virtual.
- Prepare and assist clients with completion of application, submission, follow-ups.
- Work closely with attorney to ensure, cases are managed on a timely manner, with extensive case notes of last outcome.
- Report to Executive Director and Finance Director the outcomes and projections of department.
- Assist with reporting process submitted to contractors and funders.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Comfortable interacting and communicating with community members while keeping in mind the different challenges and barriers they face as multi-layered individuals with intersectionaities.
- Bilingual English/ Spanish (Required).
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Drive, emails, plus if experience with social media.
Education & Work Experience:
- Some college, extensive undertanding of Immigraiton policies and practices
- Extensive work experience (preferably two years in immigration legal services) can substitute educational requirement.
- Have experience serving immigrant and underserved communities.
