What are the responsibilities and job description for the Records Technician position at San Bernardino County?
The Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk's (ARC) office is seeking Records Technicians who determine the recordability or filing of legal source documents; retrieve, research, prepare, and/or provide certified copies of legal documents, official records, and vital records; assist the public in self-service research of official records of property ownership, deeds, liens, etc., via microfiche and archives; prepare copies of maps and documents; calculate and collect fees; issue applications for marriage licenses and perform civil marriage ceremonies; and accept, review, and process filing applications for Fictitious Business Name Statements, Abandonments, Dissolutions of Partnership, Withdrawals of Partnership, and Proof of Publications.

Annual Across the Board Salary Increases on February 2025/2026*
Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to Step 14

*Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Travel: 1) Work locations may vary to meet departmental needs. 2) Incumbents will be required to provide their own transportation, be willing to travel to all locations as needed, and work some evenings, weekends, and holidays. 3) Offices are currently located in Hesperia, Joshua Tree, and San Bernardino and the RV-Mobile unit. 4) At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation. Mileage reimbursement is available.

REQUIRED (candidates must meet one of the following options): | |
OPTION 1 | Must possess eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent experience as a Records Technician Trainee or equivalent* in a California County/City Assessor, Recorder, or County Clerk's office or legal Court Clerk office. |
OPTION 2 | Must possess thirty (30) months of full-time equivalent experience processing legal or recordable documents in a government agency, law office, real estate, title, escrow, bank/credit union, mortgage company or similar office setting. Substitution: Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units may substitute for one year of the required full-time experience (transcripts MUST be attached if no conferred/awarded degree). |

EDUCATION | Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
