Position Overview:
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will be strategic in managing the day to day human resources operations for the Frank Residences & Byer Square. The HR Generalist will be responsible for: employee relations, managing benefits, maintaining the Human Resources database, staff recruitment, and onboarding. Additional duties include regulatory compliance and coordination of leaves of absences and workers’ compensation/safety.
Essential Job Duties:
- Lead recruitment strategies and onboarding efforts for all levels of staffing (exempt, non-exempt, on-call).
- Act as a Business Partner with managers and supervisors to communicate internal policies, procedure, and programs. Advise managers and supervisors regarding employment issues.
- Ensure all HR operations meet Title 22/DSS regulations and other applicable laws.
- Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Provide support to managers with internal investigations and make recommendations regarding solutions.
- Respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and discrimination complaints.
- Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee separation.
- Assist with the development and administration of HR programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organization.
- Prepare routine and customize reports for management, as requested.
- Manage workers’ compensation program including initial reporting, modified duty, extensive claims management, interfacing with an external employee health clinic, plan/claim administrator, and employees.
- Implement company safety and health programs. Track recordable; posts OSHA-required data and file reports.
- Manage leave of absence program, including documentation, compensation, weekly reporting, and employee communication.
- Participate in benefits administration, including coordinating open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, communicating benefit information to employees, and wellness programs.
- Assist with the administration of compensation programs to include job description development, position benchmark, job classification, and internal salary structure.
- Manage monthly licensure audit process.
- Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement and efficiency of the Human Resources department.
- Audit and maintain employee files to ensure compliance with all state, federal, regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, and/or Organizational Development, preferred.
- Four years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- Two years of current/recent California HR experience.
- PHR/SPHR preferred.
- Healthcare or hospitality experience preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience in federal and state employment law, compensation, employee relations, safety, and workers’ compensation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel.
