Title: Event Ambassador

Reports to: Project Coordinator, Activation                                                                                  

Status: Part-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime)

Location:  Hybrid. Official work address is 1074 Folsom Ave. San Francisco, CA 94103

Salary: $25.50/hr


ABOUT THE POSITION

The overall goal of an events department is to create memorable and successful events that align with the organization's mission and values, and that engage and connect with the target audience. The success of an event is measured by the level of engagement and participation, the feedback received and the impact on the organization's goals. This position reports to the Project Coordinator. The position is part-time, hourly (8 to 24 hours per week depending on event needs), and seasonal with opportunity for more year-round work. The typical work week can include 8 hour shifts at various locations within San Francisco. 

Requirements

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Monitor site for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of visitors
  • Manage set-up and breakdown of the site
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with site hosts, local service providers, property managers, merchants, SFPA partners, and staff members.
  • Provide overall site management and workflow oversight for space.
  • Conduct surveys plus additional data collection as needed and timely completion of all related data entry.
  • Ensure sites are clean and free of debris prior to scheduled event/activation and before departing the site.
  • Track number of event attendees, on-site media, any sponsor, vendor, or public feedback. Document events and programming with reports and pictures.
  • Advise Project Coordinator of trends and activity at sites.
  • Respond to community inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with promotional implementation (poster distribution etc.) citywide and locally as needed.
  • Take notes and multiple photos using a camera phone to upload into post-event log.
  • Answer any questions guests might have regarding Entwined
  • Actively speak to guests about the San Francisco Parks Alliance
  • Make the space welcoming, safe and fun!
  • Greet the scheduled artists and lend a helping hand when possible
  • Remind guests about the general rules and safety
  • Identifying and selecting event venues
  • Planning and coordinating all aspects of the event, including logistics, catering, decorations, and entertainment
  • Coordinating with other departments and external vendors to ensure the event runs smoothly
  • Developing and managing the event budget
  • Promoting and marketing the event
  • Coordinating and managing volunteer efforts
  • Managing membership and sales using SFPA point of sale 
  • Evaluating the success of the event and providing feedback for future events

QUALIFICATIONS

Length of experience:

  • 1 year of customer facing work experience

Education Experience:

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred

Job Specific Skills:

  • Must be available to work mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed upon programming requirements. 
  • Complete training for and have ability to drive company vehicle at events; must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must plan accordingly to ensure prompt arrival at the work sites for every shift
  • Ability to climb a flight of stairs and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Willing to assist with manual labor for set-up and takedown (sweeping/cleaning up, taking garbage to the dumpster, etc.)
  • Willing to work outside in all-weather conditions.

Ability to work non-traditional hours (mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays)


Work Environment: The position requires the physical ability to regularly sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb a flight of stairs and lift and/or move up to 50  pounds.

Office (Co-Lab): There are steps into the office entrance and a flight of stairs to reach the second floor. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
