What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Lead Tech position at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Directly supervises the pharmacy technician assigned to our inpatient pharmacy. Accountable for managing the day-to-day activities of the technician staff, scheduling technicians and providing staff development. The lead technician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, will assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department. The lead technician functions in accordance with standard operating procedures, guidelines within the state and federal regulations.
The Lead Pharmacy Tech will be additionally responsible for the coordination of the medication procurement process, overseeing and maintaining inventory stock levels, the related paperwork, and the process of ensuring appropriate dating of medications in the Pharmacy. The Lead Pharmacy Tech will also be responsible for the 340B program.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Possess a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency.
- General Chemistry and Algebra knowledge.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current CA Pharmacy Technician License.
- National Pharmacy Certification (PTCB), required.
Experience:
- 3 years of relevant pharmacy experience.
- Proficient in all job functions expected of a Senior/Lead level Pharmacy Technician.
- Knowledge of billing codes (J-codes maintenance).
- Previous experience teaching, managing and supervising technicians.
- Computer data input skills and experience is necessary.
- Proficiency in reading, writing and excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of DRG and ICD-9 coding and reimbursement.
- Knowledge and experience with Medi-Cal.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with others.
- Experience with McKesson software and Acudose dispensing system.
PAY / BENEFITS
• Estimated pay: $28.00 to $39.00 per hour based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
