Sanctuary for Families is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence.
Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services.
We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies : direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy.
Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.
POSITION OVERVIEW
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a safe and secure environment for clients, staff, and visitors.
- Distribute information to residents regarding program rules and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with program safety policies and procedures.
- Screens incoming visitors to the facility using identification verification.
- Provides conflict resolution.
- Conducts monthly apartment inspections.
- Monitors fire safety alarm panels and responds to facility emergencies.
- Maintains a logbook of facility activities.
- Conducts hourly tours of the facility to ensure its safety.
- Answers and transfers incoming calls.
- Prepares Incident / Accident and FYI reports for emergencies and violations of rules and / or regulations.
- Responds to security emergencies.
- In the absence of maintenance staff, sweep the entry area, courtyard, and front of the building as needed.
- Performs any other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed.
- Oversees other Residential Aides to ensure the effectiveness of the operation.
- Submitting detailed shift reports of the day's operation to the immediate supervisor at the end of the shift.
- Completing any other tasks / assignments delegated by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalency, prior security law enforcement experience preferred;
- Previous experience working in a shelter setting with families preferred;
- F-80 and Security Guard License are required;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Good verbal and writing skills;
- CPR and First Aid certified or eligible;
- Calm during crisis;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word;
- The ability to speak Spanish is a plus;
Budgeted Salary : $27.82 - $30.72 per hour $50,625 - $55,921 annualized base salary ; based on experience pursuant to wage scale in accordance with collective bargaining agreement
Work position is Full-time, Hourly / Non-Exempt
Work schedule is currently in-person full time; must be able to meet job location schedule obligations
