Maintenance Superintendent
Primary Functions:
*Keep the plant in good running condition.
*Supervises and coordinates the scheduling, diagnosis and repairs of plant equipment through subordinates.
*Performs administrative duties preparing and maintaining records and writing reports in the area of maintenance, personnel and work orders.
Major Responsibilities:
*Takes the lead role in formulating preventive maintenance programs and to keep the plant running.
*Works with Division Manager and plant superintendents on the installation of new equipment and maintaining plant equipment in good running order.
*Selects and terminates immediate subordinates.
*Develops strategic short and long-range plans and objectives to keep the plant running at optimum efficiency.

*Formulates and recommends budget for the year.
*Coordinates and provides direction and guidance to maintenance personnel.
*Provides the Division Manager with reports and information as necessary or as required that will enable him to review the maintenance effort and to provide constructive advice and guidance as to possibilities and adjustments.
*Responsible for plant sanitation.
*Responsible for maintenance, clean up and up-keep on all Sanderson Farms assets.
*Operates within a pre-set budget.
*Order parts and materials necessary for the plant to stay in good running condition.
*Ensures the plant has been properly sanitized, will pass USDA inspection at start-up, and maintains the building and grounds.
*Coordinates safety items for corrective action.
*Responsible for monthly safety training and departmental safety walk-throughs.
*Administer the Maintenance APT Testing
*Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Key Working Relationships:
*Reports to the Division Manager concerning priorities and specific assignments.
*Maintains close working relationship between processing supervisors and superintendents concerning maintenance of all plant equipment.
*Maintains close working relationship between USDA and sanitation to assure plant meets government regulations.
*Maintains close working relationship with maintenance supervisors and hourly maintenance men concerning maintenance and up keep of plant equipment.
*Identifies with the values, philosophy and mission of Sanderson Farms, Inc.
*Ability to manage and communicate with all people, coordinate different activities among various departments at the same time and maintain smooth product flow.
*Works closely with contractors and vendors concerning construction and materials installations.
Position Requirements:
Academic: High School education or equivalent experience.
Experience: Two years’ experience in manufacturing plant. Knowledge of welding, masonry, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, drafting, blueprints, schematics.
Poultry plant experience desired but not required.
Physical: Able to work in various temperatures. Able to work in noisy environment. Able to stand long periods of time. Able to bend, stoop, reach, grasp, climb, kneel, twist, crawl and lift 40lbs. Fast and repetitive motion. Able to wear all required PPE.
