What are we looking for
The Media Planner/Buyer works collaboratively with the Media Supervisor and Assistant Media Planner/Buyer to negotiate and place efficient and effective media plan(s) consistent with the objectives of a national client’s communication program.
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Advertising, Marketing, or Communication preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a full-service advertising agency or media agency is necessary
Responsibilities What you will be doing
- Consultant to the media and strategic planning teams, creative agencies and clients.
- Build trusted relationships with day-to-day clients, internal team members, media vendors and creative agencies
- Support the Media Supervisor with client requests to ensure all project due dates are met.
- Responsible for creating and sending Insertion Orders to media vendors and creative agencies
- Prepare and maintain work charts for all magazine and newspaper placements. Responsible for any additions, changes or cancellations.
- Able to draw media insights from a variety of media resources, including but not limited to: AdIntel, GfK/MRI, Scarborough, Nielsen Media Research ratings, SRDS
- Negotiate and place buys across all audience ethnicities and demographics according to campaigns derived by the client
- Enter all buys into buying/billing software at time of purchase
- Negotiate best possible rates, added value and promotional opportunities
- Negotiate best placement for advertisements to ensure the most exposure
- Lead on detailed quarterly reports outlining creative traffic and client placements including any competitors in the market
- Develop understanding of client’s business and competitive landscape
- Field incoming proposals and opportunities for assigned client(s)
- Maintain working knowledge of available media research and tools
- Keep a pulse on market conditions and rate expectations or changes
- Keep up-to-date on emerging markets and media trends
- Delegate to and work with Media Assistant Planner/Buyer on daily tasks and help to grow their knowledge base
- Keep Media Supervisor informed on all projects, continuously fostering an open dialogue

Pay: $35,600.00 - $45,000.00 per year
