What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Sandpiper Property Mgt?
Summary:
Manage all aspects of the food production for banquets, including food preparation according to the description. Adhere to sanitation practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Prepare food items for customers using a quality predetermined method in a timely and consistent manner.
• Set up station with predetermined mise en place required to service all banquet functions.
• Practice sanitation and safety daily to ensure the total customer satisfaction.
• Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the
successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to
and including termination of employment.
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the
business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
• Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Sandpiper Hospitality/Courtyard Reno rules and
regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations
will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
• Food Handling Certification required, and/or Serve Safe Certification
• Nevada Alcohol Card also required
Teamwork Work:
• Work proactively with other team members.
Physical Demands:
• Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however,
must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens ( 110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
• Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for
up to 4 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
Education: • High school diploma or equivalent, or General Education Degree (GED). Bachelor’s degree in Business
Management, Economics, Marketing, or other business related field preferred.
Experience: • 2 or more years of experience in human resources or a leadership role (hospitality, retail, food service
preferred)
Knowledge: • General understanding of common office/human resources
• Basic business awareness of all human resources applicable to all Federal, State and Local laws,
Skills: • Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently
• Intermediate computer operation including but not limited to accessing data from the internet
• Effective communication with staff, internal & external guests
• Effective conflict management
• Effective negotiation and sales skills
