Pathologist
Place of Performance:

Amarillo Veteran Affairs Health Care System (AVAHCS), Amarillo, Texas.

Work Schedule:

• Work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• On-Call Coverage: As required, including evenings, weekends, and national holidays.

Objectives:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pathologist to join our team and provide pathology coverage, services, and routine reports to a healthcare facility. As a Pathologist, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, ensuring that our healthcare services meet the highest standards of care.

SANFORD Responsibilities:

Surgical Pathology and Cytology:

• Perform surgical pathology, including gross-only cases.
• Review non-GYN cytology cases, peripheral smear, and bone marrow cases.
• Ensure timely and accurate diagnosis for all cases received on specified days.
• Provide consultation and review services for non-GYN cytology cases.
• Conduct First Time Malignant reviews and confirm diagnoses when needed.

On-Call Services:Be available for on-call services during specified hours.Respond promptly to notifications and provide pathology services as required.Cover for VA pathologists during their leave or unavailability.OB-GYN Specimens:Sign out and correlate OB-GYN specimens with PAP smears.Ensure consistent and uniform staining of PAP smears.
Consultation and Quality Assurance:
Offer occasional consults with a quick response time.Perform frozen sections in the absence of VA pathologists.Finalize pathology reports with appropriate coding and documentation.Review 10% of APG case work for quality assurance.Review case work of AVAHCS pathologists for quality assurance as directed.Off-Site Pathology Services:Provide off-site pathology coverage services.Work with VA courier services for sample transportation.Coordinate with VA Pathology Assistants for grossing simple surgical pathology cases.Special Testing and Stains:Notify the VA when special testing is required.Obtain prior approval for special testing through the VA fee basis budget.Coordinate with the VA for special stains and immunotoxins.Reporting and Documentation:Electronically return finalized pathology reports to the VA.Verify and document reports into the VA computer system.Courier Service:Arrange and provide a courier service for sample transportation on 265 days/year.Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• All personnel working on this contract must have full and unrestricted licenses.
• licensed by the Anatomical Pathology Board Certification.
• The Candidate shall be Hematopathology board certification.

Credentials:

Personnel assigned to work under this contract must undergo credentialing and privileges in accordance with VA Directives and Handbooks.
