Accounts Payable Manager

We are currently looking for an experienced AP Manager to work in a hybrid work situation out of our office in Sarasota, Florida. In this role, your main goal is to assure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting through the proper application of GAAP and maintenance of internal accounting policies and procedures.
Your Role:
- Effectively manage accounts payable activities to ensure correct account coding
- Accurate invoice, expense report payments, and proper month-end accruals in a timely fashion
- Establish and maintain procedures to ensure complete and accurate accounts payable and expense reporting in accordance with department policies and procedures
- Review and post journal entries prepared by accountants
- Review and approve account reconciliations and supporting schedules for month-end close in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies and procedures
- Assist in designing, establishing, and maintaining an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the departments’ goals and objectives
- Assist in recruiting, training, developing, supervising, and evaluating department staff
- Complete monthly financial statement close in accordance with the monthly closing schedule
- Prepare monthly financial statement variance analysis
- Prepare metrics for measuring the financial and operating performance of the company
- Document all procedures, and maintain and monitor the company’s internal control documents
- Assist Financial Controller and Director of Budget with the development of short-term and long-term budgets and forecasts
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports as required
- Assist with the preparation of the financial statement and bank audits
- Monitor financial and operational risks and recommend appropriate solutions
- Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff
- Identify, investigate and analyze potential accounting department improvements, and prepare proposals for recommended changes.
Your Background:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance, highly desired
- 7 years of experience in management role overseeing accounts payable processes/procedures
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, with a proven track record for coaching and developing employees
- Strong knowledge of high volume electronic invoicing processing
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports
- Excellent Excel skills with the ability to organize large data sets for analysis
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Word and PowerPoint & Google Suite
- Working knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (Great Plains Microsoft Dynamics)
- Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload
- Professional written and oral communication skills
- Strong initiative to take on additional responsibility/leadership as needed
