Job Summary
The Engineering Manager - CAD and BoM will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of highly skilled CAD and BOM drafters to secure maximum velocity, accuracy and standardization of all Computer-Aided Designs and Bills of Materials at the Company’s sites globally.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements the necessary policies, standards, and procedures manage and improve the Drawing and BoM building processes.
- Works hand in hand with Sales and Customer Service in order to rapidly and accurately translate customer requirements into high quality Drawings and BoMs, to support both the Sales process and Manufacturing process.
- Supports Operations (Manufacturing Management and Manufacturing Engineers) and Research & Development (Product Development Engineers) in developing solutions to manufacturing and product development challenges
- Works with all Stakeholders to drive Standardization of the Products and Solutions offering (move from “design to order” to “configure to order”), and to maximize the ability to substitute third-party components with in-house alternatives
- Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, software and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve velocity and accuracy of the CAD and BoMs drafting process
- Makes sure that specified components meet all technical specifications and Quality criteria, including for sterilization
- Defines and executes corrective action plans to resolve any issues related to quality, production, equipment, tooling, production controls, and customer requirements
- Reviews work for technical accuracy
- Report on and optimize performance metrics (KPIs)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
- At least eight years of related experience in CAD and BoM drafting is required
- At least three years of managerial experience is preferred
Required Experience & Competencies
- Thorough understanding of engineering theory and design criteria
- Thorough understanding of applied math and physics
- Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma knowledge and skills with certification is a plus
- Hands on experience with the Stage Gate Process for New Product Development is a plus
- Hands on experience with Project Management is a plus
