Qualifications
Position Summary
Oversees the management of patient care of the Center. Plans coordinates, directs and evaluates the management of patient care and staff to achieve high quality care. Interacts with all levels of nursing personnel and other departments to assure effective utilization of resources that meet the physiological and safety needs of the patient and their families.

- Assess the patient: collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history. Complete and/or review Admission Data Record as defined by the policy. Make an accurate and ongoing assessment of the patient's status and respond appropriately.
- Plan/implement: set priorities for nursing action in a logical sequence according to patient's needs and family needs when appropriate and formulate a plan of care by the appropriate selection of Nurse Practice Standards.
- Maintains effective and efficient use of equipment and supplies.
- Document accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status and completes appropriate forms that monitor patient progress.
- Administers prescribed medication.
- Transcribes and implements doctors’ orders
- Assists other members of the healthcare team in providing direct patient care.
- Shares professional knowledge and learning with other team members.
- Takes appropriate action to maintain a safe and aesthetic environment.
- Confers with other members of the healthcare team regarding patient care procedures that will directly affect the patient.
- Orients and teaches patients families regarding patient care procedures that will directly affect the patient.
- Adheres to department policies and procedures.
- Participates in meetings and staff department meetings.
- Assures that Infection Control and OSHA Regulations of the center are implemented.
- Maintains or delegate properly, logs and follow up on patients (i.e. Coumadin, abnormal mammograms, colonoscopies, biopsies on pap smears).
- Flexible to changes in work schedule and location as needed by the organization.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
Required Education and Experience
- BS or Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- IV Certification required
- Active State of Florida Registered Nurse License
- Bilingual English/ Spanish
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Case Management experience a plus
- CPR-BLS Required; ACLS/PALS preferred
- 2 years hospital and one year managed care experience preferred.
- Relevant or any other job-related vocational coursework.
