What's the Short Version?
The Director, Retail Brand Management creates and champions the vision and brand ethos of a range of apparel brands that will inspire and connect with consumers. They coach and lead brand merchandisers through the assortment planning process to collaborate with retail brand partners on the designs and offering of apparel and bags that drive innovation, fashion relevance, and sales growth. With a broad product range and a diverse set of brands, this Director enjoys the complexities of varied end uses and multi-faceted projects across the organization. Their eye for design and trend-right product will be balanced with an analytical approach that will help identify opportunities to expand each brand's reach and to assess the viability of potential new brands.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Conceptualize strategic brand vision for SanMar purchased retail brands.
  • Drive vision with internal and external partners to ensure that the brand ethos and intent resonates throughout the apparel product creation process as well as in marketing materials and sales tools.
  • Increase brands’ market share by achieving and exceeding financial objectives.
  • Seek out and drive innovative ways in collaboration with retail brand partners to continuously build brands to maintain category/industry leadership.
  • Support Brand Merchants initiatives in seeking out new opportunities and suggest new market investments to maximize sales and margin contributions.
  • Manage and support Brand Merchandisers as they build a strong line plan and assortment that is brand right, profitable, and competitive.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of Brand Merchandising team to ensure they are proactively meeting project deadlines, adhering to calendar, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, communicating consistently and timely with brand partners, and analyzing business and market trends.
  • Ensure assortment is balanced by category and price, while working with brand partners to create product that exceeds consumer expectations and leads the marketplace in their respective categories.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met internally in all business and legal aspects where applicable.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional team members as a brand steward between product creation teams, planning, sales, development, merchandising, design, and marketing.
  • Devise plans that maximize product Brand Positioning and build Brand Awareness by working cross-functionally with other departments to support and accurately portray brand tenets across campaigns and marketing efforts.
  • Demonstrate understanding of current product line, competitive landscape and sales trends in our channel in relation to the retail market and drive initiatives that identify opportunities for growth in our channel.
  • Understand audience and meeting intent for gaining buy-in of ideas while creating impactful presentations, both visually and verbally, that communicate ideas and vision which propel the business forward.

What Are We Looking For?
  • Bachelor's Degree degree in Fashion Merchandising, Design, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7-9 years of relevant experience managing teams and brands while driving the building of apparel through the product creation process.
  • 4-6 years relevant experience in a management/supervisory role guiding brand vision, design intent, and business growth.
  • In depth merchandising skills and understanding of the product creation process.
  • Extensive experience managing, mentoring, and inspiring teams to achieve their objectives in building the right product for the right consumer.
  • Proven track record of delivering business growth and innovative merchandising solutions.
  • Strong bias for action and ability to seek information proactively while working cooperatively in a diverse group.
  • Communicate in verbal, visual, and written form to effectively and clearly articulate goals and objectives.
  • Lead and influence others and champion projects using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity.

What's Our Offer?
Salary Range: You`ll earn between $160,000 - $220,000 annually, depending on experience.

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 20% of base salary.

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 7 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?
Hybrid: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions.

SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Quarterly travel may be required.
