Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
- In partnership with distribution center leadership, manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Lead and develop a team of HR professionals within the DC.
- Provide day to day guidance to management, including coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions.
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment and onboarding efforts for all exempt and nonexempt employees and temporary agency placements.
- Identify training needs for business and individual coaching needs. Participate in evaluation and monitoring success of training programs. Coordinate and follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Promote and foster a culture of respect and inclusivity for all employees to learn, grow and contribute to the organization’s success.
- Coordinate activities and programs with corporate and local leadership to promote the SanMar Community, including charitable giving, employee recognition, celebrations, diversity and inclusion and community partnerships.
- Administer performance review program and salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
- Communicate and administer benefit programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance programs.
- Create an open-door forum for team members to voice their questions, concerns, or complaints.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the business in order to support a 24/7 environment.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance, i.e., FMLA and other leave programs. Partner with HR Director and DC Manager as needed/required.
- Work with local safety coordinator and leadership to develop and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Responsible for OSHA and Workers Compensation administration.
Requirements for Position:
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including benefit and compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
- Responsive to customer needs, including professionalism, respect, and consideration of others.
- Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to change in the work environment.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors work to ensure quality.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel in the US on an occasional basis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Business, Related Field (or equivalent work experience) required.
- 4-6 years leadership experience in the field of Human Resources required.
- 4-6 years resolving complex employee relations issues required.
- Certified Professional in Human Resources from SHRM or HRCI preferred.
