What are the responsibilities and job description for the STUDENT - LIBRARY SYSTEM position at Santa Rosa County?
Provide routine assistance with maintaining library shelves and assisting library and/or administrative staff with varied duties.

- Assist in a variety of administrative tasks including filing, sorting, laminating copying, printing.
- Assist library staff with various projects and daily tasks.
- Assist library patrons with locating library materials.
- Assist with library programs and meeting room set-up.
- Check and refill supplies (staples, paper clips, etc.).
- Assist library patrons with technology (printing, using flash drives, etc.).
- Maintain standard upkeep of library shelves and community areas including wiping down tables, shelves, computers, and computer accessories.
- May be asked to assist at circulation desk or answer phones when short staffed.
- Perform individually assigned duties.
- Read shelves to make sure materials are in the correct place and order.
- Restock paper in copiers and printers.
- Shelve books and other materials.
- Perform routine work pertinent to the subject area to which assigned.
- Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; basic computer skills; arithmetic and basic mathematical calculations. On a continuous basis, stand at counter for long periods of time; know and understand the job and observe safety rules; Intermittently, sit while studying or preparing work papers, making computations, working at computer equipment; walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist while shelving library material or straightening library shelves. Perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation; and see and hear sufficiently to communicate by visual and auditory signals while working. Lift moderate to heavy weight depending upon the needs of the assignment. Learn a variety of administrative and professional tasks. Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and effective manner; meet minimum attendance requirements; interact/dress in a professional manner; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Full time enrollment in secondary school will be required for High School students with verification of enrollment letter OR, Enrollment in a minimum of three (3) semester hours OR, Verification of acceptance in an accredited college institution for employment as a college student OR, Enrollment towards a vocational certificate will be required to for employment as a Vo-Tech student. Must be at least 16 years of age.
LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license may be required.
Students may be permitted to have one semester break should there be a lack of required classes for desired major. A statement from educational institution will be required.
Note: Employment in this class is restricted to students enrolled in a college, vocational/technical or high school curriculum. Employment in this class is temporary in nature and is designed to offer the student a practical learning experience. No full-time permanent appointments will be made in this class.
