As an employee of Sarpy County, you receive regular pay for the services you provide at a rate of $22.91 per hour. In addition to your hourly wage, Sarpy County provides benefits, such as insurance and retirement, which are valued at up to $28,431.66 per year.
Under the supervision and direction of the Administrative Services Manager or designee, perform a variety of semi-skilled clerical, administrative, and customer-service duties to ensure efficient operations within the Sarpy County Correctional Center (SCC), requiring some decision making and independent judgment.
Promote a positive image of the Sarpy County Department of Corrections.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, coworkers, other County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and
the public.
Promptly answer calls in a professional and courteous manner, collect and deliver messages and route callers to appropriate party; assist in receptionist duties for overflow of main switchboard.
Provide customer service by greeting visitor, via multi-line phone system, or other means of contact regarding inquiries on inmates, visitation rules and regulations, bond and bond monies, charges, court dates, booking, commissary, and other inquires; re-direct inquiry as needed.
Monitor cameras and control access for inmates in visitation, holding cell, and private visits with attorneys, clergy, professionals, law enforcement, and other visitors.
Assign visitor tags to people entering the SCC administrative area.
Review records on new inmates for domestic violence charges and no contact bond provision; notate pertinent information for authorized visits.
Monitor, update, and maintain electronic inmate Authorized Visitor Lists; communicate with the public and inmates regarding status.
Maintain and manage the Professional Visit Log regarding attorneys, clergy, interpreters, counselors, and other professionals.
Open and inspect all incoming and outgoing inmate mail (e.g. correspondence, magazines, books, games, and other items) per established procedures; complete mail rejection and notify command staff.
Receive funds (e.g. money and cashier's checks); credit to inmate account.
Report to assigned worksite with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
Carry out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances.
Peripheral Duties
Compose, type, and edit a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
Serve as a member of various committees as assigned. Complete special assignments as directed.
Attend meetings and training sessions, as directed. Perform other duties as directed and assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/remain stationary, talk, and hear (e.g. communicate I exchange information), and operate/manipulate equipment (e.g. use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls) The employee is occasionally required to stand/be erect, walk/move about, position self (e.g. bend, reach, kneel, stoop, crawl, and climb stairs) and reach.
The employee must occasionally lift, maneuver, and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds.
Required sensory abilities include smell, vision, and hearing. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close and color vision as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Communication abilities include the ability to talk (e.g. verbal exchange/exchange information) and hear (e.g. exchange information accurately) within normal ranges.
Work is generally performed indoors in an office setting located within a 24/7 detention facility. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, call-ins, and holidays. Work may be fast-paced when dealing with multiple priorities and time constraints.
The noise level is generally moderate.
