BAR MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION
Bar Manager Responsibilities:
The Bar Manager is responsible for providing direction and leadership to beverage staff. Take orders, retrieve, and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages, and light meals to guests, courteously and efficiently. Assist in the maintenance of the area and equipment. Bar Manager reports directly to the General Manager.
Bar Manager duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy
- Always maintain positive guest relations
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available
- Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
- Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving
- Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, and price range
- Complete opening side duties as assigned
- Retrieve orders from designated areas and serve to guests
- Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures
- Complete closing side duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications:
- Indiana food handling certification
- Indiana license to sell/serve alcohol
- Must have the ability to stand and walk at a steady pace for periods of up to 8 hours or more
- Must have the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
