Overview
Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Mechanic Student Interns to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS). Selected interns will support all Electrical & Instrumentation Mechanic duties and responsibilities. Interns will be trained by the Site Training Organization for all required courses as defined by Maintenance Managers. Interns must meet all Fitness for duty requirements and pass Radiological training. Interns will work with more experienced Facility E&I Mechanics while following ALL SAFETY requirements, Con of Maintenance requirements, and all Site procedures.
Responsibilities
The interns will perform meaningful work in support of the organization. Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Mechanic Student Interns will be provided opportunities to gain knowledge and experience pertaining to all electrical and instrumentation work. Guidance will be provided using SRMC processes and procedures. Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Mechanic Student Interns be viewed as part of the SRMC team and will be expected to actively focus on improving our maintenance programs. Additional Information:The internship will last approximately 18 weeks (January, 2025 until May, 2025).
Assignments will be located in SRMC facilities on the 300sq mile DOE site outside of Aiken, SC. Public transportation is not available and interns will be required to arrange their own transportation. A valid Driver’s License, Registration and proof of automobile insurance is required for driving on the Savannah River Site. If you are selected to participate in the SRMC internship program, additional information will be requested such as: SRMC employment application, references and official transcripts. You will be assigned to SRS General Employee Training and Drug and Alcohol test appointments before badging and commencement of assignment. Resumes should be submitted as early as possible and will be reviewed by the selection panel in October, 2024.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be full-time students majoring in Electronic Instrumentation Technology and currently enrolled in a Supervised Work Experience course. Candidates must have completed the following coursework:
- Electrical and Instrumental Fundamentals
- Industrial Maintenance Course
- Electrical and Electronics Fundamentals
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
In addition:
- Must pass General Employment Training (GET)
- Must pass Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAT)
These two items will be scheduled before the intern starts work at Savannah River Site.
