Summary
The Sustainer Acquisition and Retention team is responsible for acquiring qualified new supporters and deepening the commitment of existing supporters giving to Save the Children’s two sustainer programs (undesignated and child sponsorship), which is key to achieving our ambition to reach 3 million supporters by the end of 2025.
The Acquisition Strategist (Advisor) is responsible for seeking out and driving growth in Save the Children’s sustainer programs, helping to lead the acquisition strategy across all channels in partnership with the Acquisition Senior Director. This includes direct management of Canvassing and other test marketing channels. You will work closely with colleagues on the Acquisition team, as well as Digital, to plan and develop acquisition strategies across organic and paid digital channels, email, SMS, DRTV and Connected TV, among others. You’ll also be responsible for building the sustainer forecasts and budget plans in partnership with your colleagues, analyzing past performance data and identifying trends, turning them into actionable results that will help maximize ROI.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Strategic planning and channel management – 50%
- In partnership with Acquisition Senior Director, agency partners, and internal stakeholders, plan and implement annual sustainer acquisition marketing strategies across channels
- Seek out and build new opportunities to drive new sustainers and identify opportunities across existing programs to drive efficiencies in order to maximize ROI
- Manage relationships with outside vendors, including, when applicable, creative oversight, contract negotiations and defining scopes of work
- Oversee Canvassing channel, working with partners to build & lead trainings, streamline & produce actionable reporting and develop annual strategy to maximize ROI
- Travel to canvassing sites and offices for quality assurance and training sessions (up to 25%)
- Partner with colleagues in Supporter Engagement to develop strategies to reach audience growth targets
Analysis & Evaluation – 30%
- Monitor performance and spend of acquisition campaigns and identify areas for optimization
- Design and evaluate testing plans across channels and translate quantitative data into actionable recommendations
- Report against KPIs and provide actionable analysis for campaign success
- Participate in monthly/quarterly meetings providing strategic update
Budget – 20%
- Support Senior Director in providing monthly and yearly budget updates to key stakeholders
- Monitor growth opportunities or threats that impacts agency revenue and supporter growth goals
- Other tasks to support program implementation and improvements as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least five (5) years of relevant experience
- Proven data guided acquisition or performance marketing experience including developing and implementing strategic marketing plans
- Proven networking and relationship-building skills, with a team orientation
- Demonstrated comfort presenting to a group to deliver trainings
- Demonstrated data analysis skills
- Experience with budget management, financial planning and forecasting
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel skills (vlookup, pivots, macros)
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated detail-orientation and ability to successfully deliver results while balancing multiple deliverables, often with competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels, both internal and external
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of attribution methodologies
- Direct response marketing/fundraising experience
- Experience with membership or sustainer marketing program oversight
