What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult/TAY Crisis Case Manager & Advocate position at Saving Innocence?

The Adult/Transitional Aged Youth Crisis Case Manager & Advocate provides direct advocacy and support to adults and youth who have been impacted by the commercial sex industry. Advocates should be knowledgeable about the issues surrounding the adult sex industry, sexual exploitation of children and appropriate resources in Los Angeles County and surrounding counties.


Reports to: Senior Lead Case Manager


Position: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week minimum


Requirements:

  • 3 years of Case Management experience
  • At least 2 years of direct experience with adult survivors of trafficking and exploitation
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours
  • Reliable means of transportation for use with clients
  • A registered vehicle that you are insured to drive
  • An active California driver's license
  • Comfort navigating Los Angeles County and surrounding counties
  • TB screening test


Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the justice system
  • Knowledge of the criminal court process
  • Knowledge of working with shelters, short and long term housing, AB12, and navigating Los Angeles County’s Coordinated Entry System
  • Bilingual Spanish


Skills:

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc. 
  • Ability to work on Mac computers, required
  • Experience in, and understanding of, county agencies such as law enforcement, District Attorney, Department of Children and Family Services, and Probation Department is preferred. 
  • Crisis intervention, and strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work well independently and as a reliable team member 
  • Work with individuals with different areas of expertise, knowledge, and skill sets 
  • Ability to set firm boundaries and be willing to support survivors still learning boundaries 
  • Adaptable, a quick learner, loves working with adults and Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), enjoys working with a team and independently, and is up for a challenging and exciting position! 


Job Description:

  • Provide crisis response and advocacy support for clients within 90 minutes of crisis call throughout Los Angeles County on a rotation basis
  • Provide short and long-term case management services using a relational model
  • Assist with safety planning and support through crisis and court processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both staff and clients
  • Assess safety and stability as well as basic needs
  • Completes all necessary paperwork, including assessments, referrals, and case notes in a timely manner
  • Work in collaboration with Law Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, City Attorney, Probation, FBI, the District Attorney’s office, Free to Thrive, Journey Out, and Department of Children and Family Services when appropriate
  • Coordinate resources for clients related to housing, employment, physical and mental health, education, finances, legal assistance, etc
  • Provide training and technical assistance to other Task Force partners as needed
  • Maintain strong knowledge of current community resources available for clients
  • Provides advocacy support in multidisciplinary treatment meetings and court
  • Maintain a schedule of all scheduled appointments on Google calendar daily
  • Document hours worked on Quickbooks Time daily
  • Document all activities in Client Database (Salesforce) daily 
  • Assist clients with identification of needs and services, along with linkage to resources to meet identified needs and services
  • Participate in 1 hour of individual or 2 hours of group supervision with a supervisor weekly
  • Attends monthly staff meetings 
  • Attends quarterly Victim Services Subcommittee Meetings with the LARHTTF
  • Attend training, workshops and continuing education to complete at least 40 hours initially, and 20 hours annually, being CPR and First Aid certified
  • Additional duties may be assigned by the Executive Director, Task Force Coordinator, or Victim Services Coordinator
