Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, a national law firm seeks to hire a Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources works collaboratively with leadership and all departments to provide direction and support related to the firm’s staff and attorneys and human resources functions, processes, procedures and policies. The Director also works collaboratively with the Human Resources department staff to accomplish the firm’s mission and goals.

ROLE:


Consults to firm leadership, senior managers, office administrators/coordinators, managers and department heads on human resources related policies and practices. Provides guidance and direction to the office administrators in conjunction with the office managing partners.


Works with firm management and leadership regarding staffing needs, employee relations and performance-related functions including, job descriptions, annual performance reviews, performance improvement plans, staff and attorney transitions, and departures.


Collaborates with departments to create training programs for staff. Orients newly hired attorneys and newly promoted attorneys.


Participates on firm’s Diversity Committee; provides guidance as needed on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.  Provides firm metrics for various diversity surveys and firm initiatives.


Leads the Human Resources department staff. Manages the department functions and related departmental budgets.


Develops and drafts human resources related policies, protocols and practices. Ensures compliance with related laws and government regulations. Communicates policies and practices firm-wide.


Manages firm health and welfare benefit programs. Develops and evaluates benefit strategies and programs as needed. Recommends firm benefit programs and cost-share schedule. Oversees benefit processes, education and communications.


Manages and administers the firm’s retirements plans and provides guidance to the firm’s Pension Committee on retirement benefits issues.

Works closely with plan record keeper to maintain compliance with all related regulations. Manages the annual audit process. Calculates retirement contributions for staff and attorneys.


Responds to and directs the preparation of information and reports requested or required by external auditors and government agencies.


Oversees the administration of payroll.  Collaborates with firm leadership and management on the design, development and implementation of compensation programs.


Oversees recruitment and selection process; develops best practices for hiring, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws. Recommends and maintains an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish firm goals and objectives.


Oversees disability programs including: Worker’s Compensation; unemployment compensation claims and wellness programs.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or equivalent preferred
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in a senior-level Human Resource position
  • Must reside in or around the Philadelphia, PA area
  • Position start date will be early January 2023
