Steel/Metal Building Ironworkers / Assembler / Foreman - $29 - $35+/hr

Schwob Steel Services is seeking multiple hires for Assemblers/Ironworkers Level 2, and Foreman in the Metal/Steel Building Construction industry! These roles involve erecting and installing metal/steel beams and structures.

Compensation:

• Metal Building Assembler / Ironworker Level II: $29/hr - $30/hr plus overtime and bonus. 3 years of experience in metal building structural erection and assembly.
• Metal Building Foreman Level: $30/hr - $35/hr plus overtime pay and bonus. 5 years of experience in metal building structural erection and assembly, ideally in a foreman role.

Location: You will be asked to work on the Newport News, VA shipyard job site (per diem provided if out of the area). Can be placed on other future jobs.

Hours: Monday to Friday (may change based on weather). Approx. 7 AM to 5:30 PM or later, with overtime pay.

Job Type: Full-time W-2 position with benefits. Non-exempt.

Ironworkers / Metal Building Assembler Responsibilities:

• Assist in erecting/building primary and secondary steel structures
• Assist in installing single skin wall panels, insulated metal wall panels, standing seam roofs, metal deck, and similar
• Assist in unloading material and material shakeout/organization
• Follow all OSHA 1926 and Schwob Steel Structures safety guidelines
• Communicate effectively with the project superintendent/foreman
• Participate in all safety and quality training programs
• Depending on level, may assist in detailing drawings

Ironworkers / Metal Building Assembler Required Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in ironwork or steelwork for metal building erection
• OSHA 10 preferred
• Certified Reach Forklift Operator and/or Aerial Work Platform Operator preferred
• Qualified rigger/signal person preferred
• Ability to read manufacturer's drawings
• Must be comfortable with aerial work and heights 50-100 feet (must not be afraid of heights)
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship needs
• Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs heights of 100-120 feet, lift 50lb materials, and handle long hours of strenuous work during hot and cold weather

Foreman Required Qualifications:

All of the above plus -

• 5 years of metal building construction or related
• OSHA 30
• Previous foreman experience ideal
• Competent Fall protection installation and inspection
• Certifications preferred in Forklift Operator, Aerial Work Platform Operator, Standing Seam Room Installer, Insulated Metal Panel Installer
• NCCCO rigger/signal person
• Ability to read manufacturer's drawings
• Construction management software experience (like Procore)
• Basic math skills
• Competent to conduct bolt testing and visual weld inspections
