What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Purchasing Agent position at Sciaba Construction Corporation?
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read and understand all project plans, blueprints and interpret contract requirements and specifications.
- Manage and utilize a Bidders List throughout the buyout process of multiple projects at a time at various stages of design.
- Assist Project Managers in buyout of all subcontractors and materials.
- Prepare and process contracts, purchase orders, consultant agreements and amendments to ensure compliance with contract and project requirements.
- Track/monitor the MBE/WBE/SDVOB requirements for jobs.
- Prepare bid packages and compare and analyze competitive subcontract and supplier bids.
- Review quotes and estimates with Project Team and prepare recommendations.
- Track and report on current material and labor prices, including escalation.
- Reconcile quantity surveys with consultants and design team.
- Identify escalation factors in marketplace for specific materials and labor rates.
- Review and approve all job invoices to ensure accuracy.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships with vendors
- Assist Accounting and Project Management teams with job costing.
- Minimum of 5 years in the construction business required.
- Bachelor’s Degree required with concentration in Construction Management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, supply chain management, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or similar role
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and best practices
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong vendor relationships
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
