POSITION OVERVIEW
The Product Designer (UX) drives creative problem solving and product definition that keeps users at the center. They have the ability to hit all aspects of product design (information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design) with user research at the core of the process, including in-person user interviews, usability tests and requirements gathering with our user. In this highly cross-functional role, the Product Designer works with other designers, product managers, developers, and high-profile business stakeholders to problem solve from a user-centered perspective.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Design architecture – lead the design process for your product team, from problem definition to design implementation.
- Collaborate with product managers to set goals, develop a strategy, and execute a vision.
- Form a deep understanding of your users by conducting research, synthesizing data, and performing usability testing.
- Translate requirements into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
- Know how and when to test assumptions in order to defend your design decisions.
- Own, shape, and communicate compelling long-term design strategies and vision for your product area.
- Evolve and manage our visual language, design system, and component library.
- Be open and collaborative with engineering to build and ship quality features.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree; User Experience Design, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related discipline, a strong plus
- 3-5 years’ experience as a product designer or similar role, with primary experience in UX design across web and mobile products
- Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and the like is a must
- Portfolio including user-centered design skills, visualizations of complex experiences such as flows, scenarios, personas, etc., sketches to high-fidelity mocks and clickable prototypes
Skills/Competencies
- A solid understanding of user-centered design thinking and planning
- Strong communication skills to engage with internal and external partners; demonstrated ability to articulate the value of design to these partners
- Ability to work with stakeholders/clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet needs and vision
REPORTING
Position reports to the VP, Product Design who will also assign projects, provide general direction and guidance.
