What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP/Caregiver position at SCL?
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Implement individualized care plans and ensure the well-being and safety of residents
- Promote independence and encourage participation in social and recreational activities
- Document and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity and privacy are respected
Requirements:
- Previous experience in patient care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
- Knowledge of resident rights and best practices in providing care for individuals with special needs
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform basic medical tasks such as taking vital signs under the supervision of a nurse
- Must be compassionate, patient, and have a genuine desire to help others
