Scientist, mRNA - LNP Delivery Platform
at Scribe Therapeutics Alameda, California Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class *in vivo* therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease.
Founded by CRISPR inventors and leading molecular engineers Benjamin Oakes, Brett Staahl, David Savage, and Jennifer Doudna, Scribe is overcoming the limitations of current genome editing technologies by developing custom engineered enzymes and delivery modalities as part of a proprietary, evergreen CRISPR by Design platform for CRISPR-based genetic medicine.
We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and motivated individual to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics.
The current role is for a Scientist with deep expertise in mRNA-LNP lipid nanoparticle delivery technologies to join our team and advance our platform.
The candidate should have a passion for working collaboratively with biologists and bioengineers to enable building the necessary tools for meeting the new frontier of CRISPR-based therapeutics.
The candidate will have numerous opportunities for professional growth in a rapidly growing biotechnology start-up, which includes growing into a leadership role of increasing responsibilities and the ability to publish highly impactful work in peer reviewed journals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Optimize mRNA sequences and modification profiles for activity in vivo
- Establish processes for in-house production of mRNA for rapid testing
- Set up rigorous QC processes
- Ensure high quality data generation through proper assay validation and qualification
- Collaborate across pre-clinical therapeutic groups in the company and externally to drive rapid advancement of mRNA-LNP products
- Critically evaluate experiment data and communicate scientific findings as verbal presentations and written reports
- Mentor junior team members
Scientific and Leadership expectations :
- Seamlessly interface and coordinate with cross-functional teams at Scribe to accomplish common goals
- Foster a driven, fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment in which to do rigorous science
Required Skills and Background :
- PhD. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field with at least 5 years experience with mRNA design and production
- Prior experience with oligonucleotide delivery and / or LNP technologies
- Demonstrated scientific productivity and drive as evidenced by a strong publication record in top tier journals
- Track record of independence and leadership
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team
- Excellent prioritization and organization skills
Preferred Skills and Background :
- Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches;
- Project management of early-stage therapeutic research projects.
