Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide critical legal support and guidance on a wide range of issues related to supporting the business objectives of our pharmacy benefit management operations. This role can be based in our Texas offices or performed remotely, offering flexibility and work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support on matters related to pharmacy benefit management services, including contract negotiation, business transactions, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents with clients, vendors, and other third parties.
-Overseeing state pharmacy benefit licensing requirements and ensuring compliance with said licensing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, including state/federal pharmacy benefit regulations, HIPAA, ERISA, and other related pharmacy benefit regulations.
- Advise on regulatory issues and assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, administrative hearings, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with internal departments to provide legal guidance on business strategies and initiatives.
- Conduct legal research and stay current on industry-related legal developments.
- Manage and oversee outside counsel as necessary.
- Litigation Management:
-Assist in managing litigation matters, including disputes, claims and regulatory investigations.
-Work with external counsel as necessary, oversee litigation strategy, and ensure efficient and cost-effective resolution of legal disputes.
-Conduct internal investigations as needed and recommend appropriate actions based on findings.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare law, with a focus on pharmacy benefit management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of state and federal regulations governing pharmacy benefit management, including but not limited to healthcare, privacy and pharmacy regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) or healthcare organization.
- Knowledge of state/federal pharmacy benefit regulations, HIPAA, ERISA, and other relevant healthcare regulations.
- Experience with legal research tools.
