Research Analyst

Scrum Ventures is an early-stage venture firm based in San Francisco with a growing Tokyo office. Scrum Studio is an open innovation platform for supporting and incubating new businesses by connecting iconic Japanese corporations with startups from around the world.

Scrum Studio is looking for a Research Analyst to support the Scrum Studio on various projects including their engagement with an entertainment electronics company.

• Work primarily on one particular Scrum Studio project, supporting the Venture Partner and Head of Technical Investments and Partner Success. Provide assistance on other Scrum Studio projects as needed.

• Research and analyze new/emerging technologies, tech trends, and startups.

• Interface with startups to better understand their technologies.

• Create technical comparisons among similar technologies.

• Assist in the preparation of slides, written posts on Scrum Connect Online (SCO), and other reports.

• From time-to-time, assist in research on potential investments into technical startups.

• Miscellaneous tasks as needed.

• Full-time position

• Able to start immediately

• Location: Scrum Ventures office in San Francisco, CA

• Fluent in English.

• Preferred but not required: fluent in Japanese.

• BS in a STEM subject.

• 1-2 years of experience as an engineer, at a technical startup, at a VC firm, or at an accelerator program.

• Interested in gaming, deep technology, and startups.

• Work authorization that does not require any sponsorship.
