What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at SCS Engineers?
What we are looking for
SCS Engineers is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to provide frontline support to our Field Services OM&M Team. If you are a team-player, multi-tasker and problem solver, committed to providing excellent client service, then this position could be an ideal fit for you. You will be hybrid in the Long Beach Headquarters and will report to the Senior Human Resources Manager. You will be supporting over 300 employees nationwide, so multi-state experience and/or experience supporting field employees is highly preferred.
How you can make an impact
- Proactively maintain a positive work environment; provide support and counsel to assigned client group regarding all employment relation issues from coaching to corrective action and facilitate resolutions that are fair and consistent.
- Conduct necessary and timely employment related investigations and ensure proper interview, reporting and documentation protocols are adhered to.
- Field employee inquiries as it relates to benefit programs such as life, medical and disability insurances, defined contribution plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, COBRA and employee assistance. Escalate issues as necessary to Corporate Benefits team.
- Partner with benefits for leave of absence and worker's compensation case management for assigned client group.
- Work in conjunction with Corporate Health and Safety Director on matters of workers' compensation, SCS substance abuse polices, SCS motor vehicle policies and other H&S driven initiatives that impact the assigned client group.
- Manage assigned client group annual goal setting and performance evaluation process and coach management to provide valuable, timely and consistent performance feedback.
- Coordinate employee separations and conduct exit interviews as needed to determine reasons behind separations. Interpret company policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs and provide appropriate training to management regarding relevant Federal, State and Local employment laws.
- Manage effective communication structures to ensure that assigned client group remain informed of relevant organizational initiatives and projects.
- Uphold and enforce the firm's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or human resources preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience functioning in a generalist capacity required. Experience working with construction or field staff is highly preferred.
- Supplementary training and/or designations (M.A., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) related to the human resource field is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing.

Pay range for this position is $75K to $90K/year depending on experience and location. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
