The UN Sustainable DevelopmentSolutions Network (SDSN) has been operating since 2012 under theauspices of the UN SecretaryGeneral.
SDSN mobilizes globalscientific and technological expertise to promote practicalsolutions for sustainable development including the implementationof the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris ClimateAgreement.
We aim to accelerate joint learning and promoteintegrated approaches that address the interconnected economicsocial and environmental challenges confronting the world.
SDSN works closely with United Nations agenciesmultilateral financing institutions the private sector and civilsociety. It is directed by Professor Jeffrey D.
Sachs and operatesthrough offices in New York Paris and KualaLumpur.

Ourprogram aims to facilitate dialogue among leaders and scholars fromdiverse cultural and academic backgrounds. We are honored tocollaborate with esteemed institutions of the peoples republic ofChina and the Hellenic Republic.

TheNishan World Center for Confucius studies and Tsinghua institutefor advanced study in humanities and social sciences were theleading hosts of the 2024 symposium.
The 2024QufuBeijing symposium was the third in our series of globalmeetings bringing together philosophers policy experts and leadersin the new digital technologies to consider the meeting points anddivergences of the ancient wisdom traditions and to consider how wecan draw on this vast bounty of knowledge to help us confrontchallenges such as the environmental crises challenges of war andpeace and governance over the new cuttingedgetechnologies.
POSITIONSUMMARY
UN SDSN is seeking a talentedindividual to support the SDSN Senior Manager with theAristotleConfucius symposium line ofwork.
PRINCIPALRESPONSIBILITIES
- Theconsultant will help invite and coordinate with the symposiumspeakers assist with the conference volume editorial teams paperselection process.
- Support the reviewof the manuscript ensuring accuracy andcopyediting.
- Manage the symposium conferenceemail accounts and reply to relevantemails.
- Schedule meetings of the editorialteam; take notes at meetings and circulate followup action items.Participate in working group meetings.
- Researchand writing support for AC symposiums substantivedeliverables.
- Managing and organizing draftsgaining legal consent for use of images and figures copyediting andsupporting the design layout of the conferencevolume.
- Other items as relevant and assigned bythe SDSNs Senior Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONEXPERIENCE
- Professionalfluency in English required (written andspoken)
- Masters degree or higher in philosophyhistory humanity or economics ispreferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevantprofessional experience in philosophy history humanity oreconomics.
- Highly organized anddetailoriented
- Exceptional writing editing andoral communications skills required
- Experiencecommunicating with and working alongside highlevelexperts
IMPORTANTINFORMATION
Location : Remote.
Contract Length : 12months.
Salary Range : $16 26 per hour 15 hoursper week.
