Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Assist the Feed mill Manager with the daily operations of the feed mill department by supervising production employees, overseeing the production, quality, costs and safety of the mill
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Determine work assignments, establish or adjust work procedures to meet plant or production schedules.
- Oversee procedures to verify conformance to the high standards of quality as established by the current Good Manufacturing Practices for the industry.
- Learn and understand the flow of all materials, incoming and out-going, and the standard operating procedures of all areas of the Feed Mill.
Must be able to operate all areas of the feed mill and completely understand automation systems.
- Review all daily usage and inventory; investigate and correct all discrepancies.
- Recommend measures to improve mill and transportation production methods, equipment performance and quality of service and carry out any needed corrective action.
- Train new employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; discipline of employees as needed; address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Timely and accurately document and follow up on any employee or operating issues.
- Maintain collaborative working relationship with supervisors, peers, subordinates, internal and external customers.

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED required. B.S. degree in Feed Science preferred. Four or more years' related experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to understand automation systems including mechanical and or electrical experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate all routine reports and correspondence. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel etc.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and sometimes push / and or move up to 300 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
