OVERVIEW
- The Sponsors office manages a team that provides IT support services and related cyber security guidance to their assigned organizations.
- The Sponsor is seeking specialized support in Cyber Security.
- The Sponsor needs polished skills in the development, deployment, operations, implementation and support of component information systems to ensure they are consistent with Sponsor’s security policies and procedures.
- The Cyber Security Engineer will work closely with the Sponsor providing IT support service and recommendations on security policies, procedures, and requirements related to safeguarding systems within the Sponsor’s area of responsibility.
- They will provide cyber security support and recommendations to the development and accreditation of systems, provide and support cyber security mitigation recommendations to enable Sponsor’s mission, implement and support the component information systems requirements, and use the Project Management Framework and Risk Management Framework.
- The team will review security plans for customers, evaluate risk mitigations, provide feedback and guidance related to compliance with current policies, assist in sponsoring systems through the Sponsor’s approval process, and serve as information security consultants/experts to all components within their area of assignment, other Sponsor offices and Sponsor’s partners.
- The Cyber Security Engineers will serve as an advocate for the assigned security meetings and coordinate Information Security issues for their respective area of assignment, working closely with customers and partners to assure the integration of effective information security mechanisms throughout Sponsor’s information systems.
- They will also provide similar support for Sponsor’s partners and assist in developing and articulating to systems security policy and technical requirements for system design, development, and operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Demonstrated experience performing as an Information System Security Manager (ISSM), Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), and Information System Security Engineer (ISSE).
- Demonstrated experience supporting systems security practices, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience with system design concepts and implementation, with emphasis on cyber security principles, issues, and technology.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience being responsible for information technology/information assurance/information security work.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Non-Title 50 (NT-50) information systems, Enterprise and IC networks and systems.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience writing and reviewing technical documents addressing complex system design and security controls information.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience organizing, planning, and prioritizing multiple tasks to ensure schedules are met.
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience communicating, written and oral, complex technical concepts and information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrate experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) life cycle.
DESIRED SKILLS
- On-the-job experience with the Sponsor’s Enterprise networks and systems.
- On-the-job experience with information security protocols and software.
- On-the-job experience in information, physical, and protective security policy development and implementation.
- On-the-job experience with system design concepts and implementation, with emphasis on cyber security principles, issues, and technology.
- On-the-job experience identifying and understanding new technologies and assess their technical capabilities for security concerns.
- On-the-job experience leading and managing effectively; self-starter capable of working independently and within a team; adapting to rapidly changing priorities.
- On-the-job experience with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- On-the-job experience with the Sponsor.
- On-the-job experience with the Sponsor's policies, procedures, and guidance for cyber security.
- On-the-job experience or understanding of Sponsor’s Project Management Framework and Risk Management Framework.
- On-the-job experience in consultation and policy interpretation Sponsor’s partners systems security practices, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
