Position Summary:
In the critical hands-on role of Maintenance Lead within all our facilities (Arlington and Sedro Woolley), the successful candidate will be actively involved in the day-to-day maintenance activities while leading a small team. This position demands a leader who is not only experienced in supervising others but also deeply engaged in performing actual maintenance work. The Maintenance Lead will directly engage in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining essential equipment such as diesel forklifts, overhead cranes, boilers, hydraulic systems, and other equipment to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the galvanizing processes.
Core Responsibilities:
Serve as a working lead, actively participating in the maintenance, repair, and operation of galvanizing equipment alongside the maintenance team.
Lead by example, demonstrating hands-on skills in troubleshooting and fixing mechanical problems specific to the galvanizing industry.
Conduct hands-on maintenance and repair work on vital machinery including diesel forklifts, overhead cranes, boilers, hydraulic systems, and other equipment ensuring minimal downtime and optimal operational efficiency.
Utilize technical skills to perform metalwork tasks, including cutting and welding, essential for the upkeep and repair of facility equipment.
Coordinate and perform hands-on preventive maintenance activities, directly contributing to the longevity and reliability of the machinery.
Availability to work weekends as needed to work on production equipment that cannot be down during business hours.
Be readily available to respond to emergency breakdowns and perform hands-on repairs outside normal working hours as part of on-call duties.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated hands-on experience in industrial or galvanizing maintenance, with a strong emphasis on actual fieldwork.
Solid experience with diesel forklifts, overhead cranes, boilers, and related galvanizing plant machinery.
Proficient in high-voltage (480V) systems and the hands-on resolution of electrical and mechanical issues.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance capacity within a heavy industrial environment.
Proven ability to perform detailed and complex repairs requiring hands-on mechanical skills.
Basic computer skills.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to lead a team while contributing physically to the work required.
Capable of multitasking and working efficiently in a hands-on, high-pressure production environment.
Physical Requirements:
Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling weights up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to perform frequent squatting/kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting/turning, and reaching.
Able to work in various positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving, for extended periods.
Work Environment:
This hands-on position requires working under varying weather conditions and in a demanding industrial setting. The candidate must be prepared to work for extended periods under minimal supervision.
Work Hours:
AM Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
