1099 Insurance Loss Control Inspector

Sedgwick
Springs, MO Contractor | Part Time
POSTED ON 7/18/2023 CLOSED ON 1/8/2024

What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1099 Insurance Loss Control Inspector position at Sedgwick?

Sedgwick’s loss control consultants are 1099 contractors who act on behalf of insurance underwriters, traveling to commercial properties to observe and evaluate general conditions, physical characteristics, and unusual exposures. They schedule and complete on-demand physical (onsite) insurance inspections for said commercial properties and certain high-value dwellings. They survey properties and collect information for clients in checklist or narrative formats to determine if property risks meet carrier eligibility requirements for underwriting new insurance policies or existing policy renewals. Most of Sedgwick’s inspections focus on property and general liability coverage for commercial risks such as retail and convenience stores, offices, churches, schools, restaurants, and apartment/condo complexes, but we also service other commercial insurance lines of business including Workers Compensation, commercial auto, and product and completed operations liability. Surveys or risk assessments can be monoline or multiline. Upon inspection completion, consultants promptly prepare clear and concise comprehensive reports that include exterior measurements, diagrams, photographs, and recommendations in order to summarize the current conditions and visible hazards associated with a potential risk.

Pay

Sedgwick pays inspectors per completed report based on client specifications. Typically, most assignments are flat rate with an average pay between $45 - $95 per report. Rates can be less or more depending on complexity and location. Sedgwick has certain client assignments that are paid on an hourly basis — depending on the size and scope of work. Most Worker’s Compensation and commercial auto assignments are time and expense. Hourly rates vary by the skill level independent contractors. Our independent loss control consultants can decline any assignment they feel is not suitable for their skill level or fee requirements. The number of assignments and frequency of them may vary depending upon geographical location. Sedgwick assigns work based on skill set and capacity.
