What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Technician position at SEIU Local 1000?
SEIU Local 1000 is a cutting-edge union representing approximately 100,000 California state employees and is recruiting an Account Technician to work in its Accounting Department in Sacramento, California. The Accounting Department is a fast paced work environment that requires excellent organizational skills.
DUTIES: Performs accounting work of average difficulty including, but not limited to, the following:
· Prepares and checks payrolls and invoices.
· Gathers, tabulates and proofreads statistical and financial data.
· Keeps financial records using independent judgement.
· Posts, checks, balances and adjusts accounts.
· Schedules, indexes and files bills, vouchers, documents and other paper.
· Makes arithmetic calculations and checks statistical and accounting tables and records.
· Assists in preparing reports.
· Operates a telephone console, taking messages and/or directing calls to the appropriate extension, in the immediate work area.
· Performs other related duties as required.
ELIGIBILITY:
Education: Equivalent to a 12th grade education.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in keeping or reviewing financial or statistical records.
Note: Accounting-related education may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of one (1) year of education for each six (6) months of experience.
Other: Knowledge of the methods, practices and terminology used in accounting.
Salary ranging from $3,351 to $4,842
