Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. As our Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, conducting financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Your expertise in real estate accounting and financial reporting will contribute to the success of our projects and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

FINACIAL REPORTING

·        Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for self storage properties and portfolios.

·        Ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue, expenses, and other financial transactions related to real estate operations.

·        Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review financial results, providing insights and recommendations for optimizing financial performance.

 

GENERAL LEDGER MANAGEMENT

·        Review owner distributions in accordance with recurring schedule.

·        Maintain the general ledger for real estate entities, recording journal entries and reconciling accounts.

·        Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances related to real estate holdings.

 

BUDGETING AND FORECASTING

·        Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for self storage properties, incorporating revenue projections, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.

·        Collaborate with property management teams to analyze actual performance against budgeted figures and provide variance explanations.

·        Review month end reporting for accuracy and against annual budget for performance.

 

BANKING 

·        Prepare and complete funds transfers as directed.

·        Assist in opening new bank and merchant accounts for properties as needed.

·        Review and post monthly bank reconciliations.

 

 

 

TEAM MANAGEMENT

·        Recruit, train, and manage accounting staff.

·        Set performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and provide guidance and mentoring to team members.

·        Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

 

OTHER DUTIES 

·        At all times, maintain and promote the Company’s good reputation among Vendors, Customers, Employees and all others who you come into contact within the course of business.

·        Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in real estate accounting processes, recommending and implementing improvements as needed.

·        Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures specific to real estate operations.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field; CPA preferred

·        A minimum of 4 years of experience in real estate accounting or a similar role.

·        Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and real estate accounting standards.

·        Proficiency in real estate software and financial systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage) is highly desirable.

·        Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.

·        Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.

·        Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and time management skills.

·        Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with cross-functional teams and external partners.

·        Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

·        Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information
