What does the job involve?
Summary: Requires measuring and scribing, trimming, assembling and setting-up of sheet, and tubular.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
- Performs such typical operations as assembling prefabricated parts into welding jigs or fixtures to blueprint dimensions.
- Assembles parts preparatory to welding by fitting, filing, deburring, trimming to scribe lines, and grinding, then straightening and aligning them after the weld.
- Checks planning sequence of work operations and submits any corrections or suggestions to the Foreman for approval.
- Assemblies made require some correction for stress and distortion & determines shrink allowances in order to compensate for any conditions.
- Holds parts in place by spot welding, clamping, bonding or machine tacking.
- Performs rework, repair and other associated operations relating to the work described.
- Minimum output of 65%.
- Minimum quality of 90%.
- Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills:
- Language: Ability to interpret work order/ traveler work instructions, able to establish a good communication channel with peers, also knows how to read assembly blue prints. Also, must be able to read and work from blueprints and use precision measuring instruments such as scales, Vernier calipers, and height gauges.
- Reasoning Ability: Maintain and promotes safety awareness and participation, develops good techniques to meet production standards, knows how to use all precision measuring instruments, and familiar with inspection requirements.
- Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Qualifications:
- Tacking certificate.
Tools used:
- Drill presses, grinding wheels, hand drills, band saws, etc.
Materials used:
- Emery cloth, Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys in the form of sheet, castings, forging, extrusions, tubular stock machined, and formed parts.
