About This Role:

The Warehouse Manager manages shipping and receiving by implementing, improving, and sustaining practices and procedures to ensure corporate financial goals and productivity targets are met. Directs operations through a team of front-line supervisors, and employees.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

Communicates and drives operational initiatives that optimize team efforts in the distribution of high-quality products. Understands and manages global customer requirements, benchmarks competitor service levels internally and externally.

Cultivates a highly responsive, cohesive, flexible, and engaged workforce that values teamwork. Coaches and develops staff by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance. Promotes employee training and development of each member’s capabilities and talents. Coaches staff by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance. Establishes clear measurable goals and objectives for both individuals and team results. Communicates how each member’s contribution affects the success of the team and KPI results.

Executes the warehouse schedules based on demand requirements, workforce capacity, equipment capacity, and inventory supply.

Researches, evaluates, recommends, and implements investments in technology, equipment or systems that enhance distribution capabilities to improve efficiency and reduce cost.

Ensures that team members are continuously monitoring output, distribution processes, labor efficiencies, direct operating expenses, and quality indicators for the distribution center. Oversees the resolution of problems or reinforcement of positive results. Confirms that all findings are properly communicated to upper management.

Leads tours of the warehouse when requested, tailored to the guest, with information relative to the purpose of the visit. Maintains a showcase level distribution center.

Drives positive results in operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Assists in the development and revision of warehouse KPIs. Measures performance and quality through tracking, monitoring, and reporting warehouse metrics. Ensures the team understands and is accountable for the results.

Prepares and submits operating reports to management to inform them of the current distribution statuses and make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Monitors warehouse operational expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality. Knows and understands its budget.

Participates in the development of distribution plans with managers from other departments to ensure that distribution performance standards meet customer requirements. Follows up with departments with respect to ongoing status of plan versus actual performance.

Ensures that a safe workplace is always maintained. Represents the department through participation in Hunter Industries’ Corporate Safety Council. Provides resources necessary to be proactive towards addressing issues in the workplace. Fosters and maintains a safe working environment by adhering to all policies, procedures, and regulations.

Promotes and sells product by being knowledgeable of the industry and familiar with customer’s needs. Asks questions regarding any other necessary parts or product that the customer may need to order.

Manages employees, including temporary assembly employees, and manages the work priorities with knowledge of customer needs and customer pickups. Also manages their time sheets.

Oversees the warehouse inventory, maintains product supply, and generates orders from the corporate office to replenish warehouse supply.

Other Job Functions:

Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

It is the responsibility of all Hunter employees to keep themselves and others safe. Employees are required to complete all mandatory safety trainings, know Hunter’s safe work practices, use the appropriate personal protective equipment for the job, and immediately report all injuries, near misses and hazardous identifications to a Supervisor or the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Department. Those employees who do not comply with safe work practices may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Employees in management positions have an even greater responsibility that includes modeling safe behavior, ensuring employees on the team are following all safe work practices and completing training, and taking part in injury/illness investigations. A safe workplace must be the goal of everyone at Hunter Industries.

Qualifications:

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and work experience.

Experience Required and Preferred:

Minimum of eight years of warehouse management experience within a distribution environment.

Minimum of three years supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) Required and Preferred:

KSA #1: Excellent people management skills including the ability to communicate clear expectations to inspire, energize, and motivate the team. Understands succession planning and guides employees in career planning. Experience or knowledge of developing and training employees.

KSA #2: Excellent communication skills with ability to give both verbal and written presentations.

KSA #3: Experience working with distribution methodologies such as Lean and Six-Sigma principles.

KSA #4: Experience in developing, implementing, and improving key performance indicator metrics through strong data analysis and continuous improvement.

KSA #5: Requires ability to set multiple goals and objectives, to set and meet timelines, and to achieve goals and objectives. Must have excellent organizational and management skills.

KSA #6: Knowledge of P&L, cost accounting, cash flow, capital management, budgeting, and other financial concepts routinely used in planning and measuring a plant’s performance.

KSA #7: Ability to effectively influence change.

KSA #8: Skilled in data driven decision making including the ability to collect, analyze, and present statistically valid distribution data (cost, capacity, ROI, yield, utilization, and efficiencies).

KSA #9: Knowledge of OSHA and other related safety requirements for distribution center operations within a manufacturing industry.

KSA #10: Advanced skills in computer software to generate reports and to maintain databases. Programs include MS Office, Warehouse Management System (WMS), and JD Edwards (ERP) system.

Physical Demands:

Ability to walk intermittently throughout the shift to move throughout the work area. Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper-level work area.

Ability to bend and crouch to move boxes to and from warehouse shelves, pallets, and other storage areas.

Ability to lift and carry boxes (weighing up to 70 pounds).

Ability to push and pull with the arms and body to use a hydraulic pallet jack and two-wheeled dolly. Ability to push and pull with the arms upon levers and push with the feet upon foot pedals to operate a fork-lift.

Ability to climb ladders to gain access to high warehouse shelves.

Manual dexterity sufficient to lift and carry boxes and to grasp the handle to use a hydraulic pallet jack and two-wheeled dolly.

Finger dexterity sufficient to use a writing utensil to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.

Visual acuity sufficient to use a computer, to count and verify lot numbers and quantities of parts for shipping.

Work Environment:

Inside warehouse with no temperature controls and concrete floor.

Exposure to seasonal climate.
