What are the responsibilities and job description for the CTS APP for IMCU position at Sentara?
The Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTS) Advanced Practice Provider team at Sentara Heart Hospital (SHH) is seeking a full time APP to support our peri-operative patient population in the Immediate Care Unit. This role is primarily devoted to the care of the post-operative CTS patient. Care goals are designed to optimize the physical, psychological health, and well-being of this patient population by facilitating efficient management of evidenced based practices designed to prevent or mitigate post-operative complications. The CTS IMCU APP team ensures best practices are implemented for the cardiothoracic surgery patient through all phases of care, pre-operatively through outpatient follow-up. Ongoing, active participation and evaluation of quality care initiatives, improvements, patient care outcomes, and overall effectiveness of the CTS program is required.
The ideal candidate is one with a dedication for high quality care and excellence in customer service. A cardiothoracic surgery background and at least two years of advanced practice experience in an acute care clinical setting is highly preferred. Critical care background preferred. This position requires call and weekends.
The hospital-based Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing health care services to individuals, families, and/or groups in the hospital setting, independently and/or under the direction of the attending physician. Health care services include conducting comprehensive health assessments, prescribing/providing treatments/interventions, making referrals, managing acute and stable chronic illnesses, promoting health, and providing disease prevention and management services. The APP is expected to participate in quality assurance and improvement activities, engage in member- of- the- team activities, use resources (human and material) appropriately, and adhere to Hospital and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations (as applicable).
