Position Description

This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
Serco supports the Navy as prime for their Amphibious Warfare program. With this opportunity you will be leading technical and programmatic management of the new Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC), Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC), Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1600 class, and the new LCU 1700 class from cradle to grave, across the acquisition life-cycle. In this role, you will oversee the engineer team by reviewing submissions and proposing changes and edits of construction drawings, technical manuals, craft specifications, design reports, acquisition analysis, fielding plans, etc., additionally, you will be expected to provide assistance, guidance, and mentoring to junior Engineers as needed. Furthermore, in this role you will be expected to support testing and evaluation efforts of various craft systems/integration, and Builders and Acceptance Trials, as needed.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for providing technical support for all aspects of requirements development, concept development, engineering, integration and test, and performance analysis as tasked by the customer and Serco Task Order Program Manager.
- Support fully independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables.
- Assist the customer with coordinating meetings, discussions, and action items, as needed.
- Support senior technical personnel and project managers within the organization of all technical activities related to system and technical product development for both acquisition of and life cycle sustainment of all landing craft platforms.
- Provide technical recommendations for craft changes, including installation drawings, TM updates, Liaison Action Reports (LARs), etc., as required.
- Provide technical and design support on emergent issues in the Fleet and during all availabilities.
- Perform basic engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation, including the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and engineering computations, measurements, and analyses.
- Comply with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties.
- Travel for craft audits or inspections when required.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance post-employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Ocean Engineer, Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering, Naval Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years of relevant work experience.
- 7 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience and understanding of configuration management of technical manuals, and ship drawings.
- Experience and understanding of DoD acquisition management.
- Must be willing and able to travel to shipyards to support craft audits or inspections when needed, usually once per quarter, or at least twice per year.
- 10% travel required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must poses effective organization leadership, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- A Masters degree in Engineering Management or Masters of Project Management is highly desired.
- Diverse/Broad engineering background is desired; electrical engineering experience is highly desired.
- Prior experience working with a DoD Program Office, US Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding, or in the Navy marine shipbuilding industry is highly desired.
- Defense Acquisition University (DAU) certification(s) is highly desired.
- Knowledgeable of AutoCad or SolidWorks 3D modeling programs is highly desired.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired but not required.
