What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Geologist position at SET Environmental Inc?
A Staff Geologist at SET Environmental / WCEC is responsible to:

Conducts scientific field and office related tasks in support of site investigations, geological & hydrogeological studies, remediation design and implementation, and environmental data collection and evaluation

Prepares written and oral technical reports

Studies and documents quantities, distribution, disposition, development, and potential environmental impacts related to soil, groundwater, and surface water
-
Installs, uses, and maintains meters, equipment, and instruments such as GPS, pressure transducers, water level and interface meters, water quality meters, electric and pneumatic pumps, and weather instrumentation

Conducts soil and groundwater investigations at sites known or suspected to be impacted by a variety of regulated contaminants

Designs and performs aquifer tests

Works in partnership with Senior technical staff in procurement and execution of compliance, investigation and remediation projects

Assist Project Managers and Senior Staff in preparing proposals, scopes of work and bids, tracking project status and budget to ensure that projects are completed in timely manner and as proposed, oversee, direct, and conduct field investigation activities

Prepares scientific reports including detailed data summary, analysis, and recommendations

Provides effective and innovative solutions to complex problems

Maintains good relations with clients; thoroughly explain procedures, potential costs, and timelines involved in the completion of a project

Maintains good relations with regulatory agencies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory policies and expectations

Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Performs as a member of the SET / WCEC on-call emergency response team

Achieves billable goal of 80% (1500 hours per year)

Promotes all company policies and safety standards

Communicates and collaborates in a respectful manner with all other employees, supervisors, clients, and vendors
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum four (4) year degree in geology, hydrogeology or closely related discipline from an accredited university or college

3 years related environmental industry experience
-
Strong technical skills in hydrogeology and contaminant fate and transport
-
Developed computer skills including ArcMAP, Excel, Word, Surfer, etc.

Experience using groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport computer modeling software
-
Field supervision of staff and subcontractors
-
Must be flexible to changes in work schedule and be available for On-call
-
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
-
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation & telephone) with all department levels
-
Maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT guidelines
