What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Tutor position at Sharp Minds Academy?
As a Special Education Tutor with Sharp Minds Academy, you will be a part of our innovative educational program for students Pre-K through 12th.
Sharp Minds Academy is looking for individuals with certifications and experience with Special Education and willing to work Mon to Fri 4:00PM to 6:00PM and/or Saturdays 9:00AM to 2:00PM. At SMA, we provide academic skills either one-to-one or in a small group for all ages including students with dyslexia and other learning and attention challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify the needs of the assigned students through formal assessments.
* Review IEPs with parents, history and assessment data to develop appropriate goals and objectives for each student.
* Instruct and assist students to be independent learners by improving underlying processing skills such as auditory and visual processing, attention, memory, and reasoning; and remediating reading, spelling, writing and math skills.
* Use appropriate methods of learning to meet the needs of each student.
* Develop and Implement Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIPs) where necessary
* Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for each student and maintain regular communication with parents.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university.
- Prior experience working with Special Needs children.
- Experience and training in social skills program models.

All Staff is requested to wear a mask. Parents will drop/pickup at the front entrance. All teaching materials and classroom equipments needs to be sanitized and cleaned after each use.
